1. Introduction
CAMSERMAR, also known as Cameroon Service Market, respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of everyone who uses our mobile application, website and related services. CAMSERMAR is a platform designed to connect customers with independent service providers and professionals. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, when we may share it, how we protect it, how long we retain it and the rights available to you regarding your personal information.
2. Who is responsible
CAMSERMAR is responsible for the processing of personal data through its platform. For privacy-related matters, CAMSERMAR can be contacted at camsermar@gmail.com. CAMSERMAR operates in Cameroon and seeks to process personal data in accordance with applicable laws of Cameroon, including Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 relating to personal data protection in Cameroon.
3. What personal data means
Personal data means any information that identifies or can reasonably be used to identify an individual. Depending on how you use CAMSERMAR, this may include your name, telephone number, email address, profile photograph, profession, occupation, services offered, location, town, city, quarter or neighbourhood, service requests, portfolio information, ratings, reviews, messages, technical information, account information, premium-feature information and information you provide when contacting customer support.
4. Information you provide
When you create an account or use CAMSERMAR, we may collect information that you voluntarily provide. This may include your full name, telephone number, email address, profile photograph, profession, services offered, business or professional description, location, portfolio, qualifications or professional information, service requests, ratings, reviews, messages and other information that you choose to provide.
5. Telephone number and email
Your telephone number may be used to create or identify your account, verify your account through an OTP or similar verification process, secure your account, communicate with you about the platform and help prevent fraudulent or abusive activity. Your email address may also be used for account management, important notifications, customer support, security and other legitimate purposes.
6. Location information
CAMSERMAR may collect location information when you give the application permission to access your device's location. Location information may be used to help you find services near you, display relevant service providers, identify suitable service requests, improve search results and provide location-based features. Depending on the functionality available in the application, you may also be able to manually select your town, city, quarter or other location. You can control location permissions through your device settings, although disabling location access may affect certain CAMSERMAR features.
7. Service provider profiles
If you create a service-provider profile, CAMSERMAR may collect and display information such as your name, profile photograph, profession, services, location, professional description, portfolio, qualifications or credentials that you voluntarily provide, ratings and reviews. Some of this information may be visible to other CAMSERMAR users because the purpose of the platform is to help customers discover and contact service providers.
8. Service requests
When you submit a service request, CAMSERMAR may collect information about the service you require, a description of the work, your preferred location, preferred date or time, photographs or documents you attach and any additional information you provide. This information may be used to help relevant service providers understand your request and respond to you.
9. Messaging and communications
Where CAMSERMAR provides messaging or communication features, information contained in those communications may be processed to deliver messages, operate the communication system, provide customer support, investigate reports, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain platform security and comply with applicable law. If you choose to communicate with another user through telephone, WhatsApp or another external service, that communication may be governed by the privacy policy and terms of that third-party service.
10. Technical information
When you use CAMSERMAR, certain technical information may also be collected automatically. This may include your device type, operating system, application version, IP address, device or installation identifiers, network information, language or regional settings, crash reports, diagnostic information, access dates and times and information about how the application is used. This information may be used to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve CAMSERMAR.
11. How we use personal information
CAMSERMAR uses personal information for legitimate and necessary purposes connected with operating the platform. These purposes may include creating and managing accounts, verifying users, connecting customers with service providers, processing service requests, enabling communication, providing location-based features, improving search results, providing customer support, maintaining platform security, detecting fraud and abuse, administering premium features, improving the application and complying with legal obligations.
12. Legal bases for processing
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, CAMSERMAR may process personal data based on your consent, the need to provide requested services, the performance of an agreement, compliance with a legal obligation, protection of users and platform security, legitimate interests where permitted by law or another lawful basis recognised by applicable legislation. Where consent is required, CAMSERMAR will seek it in an appropriate manner. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent where applicable, although withdrawal will not necessarily affect processing that was lawfully carried out before the withdrawal.
13. Information visible to other users
Because CAMSERMAR is designed to connect customers with service providers, certain information may be visible to other users. Depending on the features you use, this may include your name, profile photograph, profession, services offered, general location, portfolio, professional description, ratings, reviews and information contained in a service request. You should avoid publishing information that you do not want other users to see.
14. External communication services
CAMSERMAR may allow users to contact service providers directly through telephone, WhatsApp or other communication methods. When you choose to use an external communication service, information may be shared with that service and the communication may take place outside the CAMSERMAR platform. The privacy practices of that external service will then apply to the relevant communication.
15. Sharing of personal data
CAMSERMAR does not sell your personal data simply because you use the platform. However, personal data may be shared where reasonably necessary to operate CAMSERMAR. This may include sharing relevant information with other users, technology and hosting providers, authentication providers, communication providers, analytics providers, security providers, customer-support providers and payment providers.
16. Payments
Where CAMSERMAR offers premium features or other permitted transactions, payment information may be processed by third-party payment providers. Depending on the payment system used, CAMSERMAR may not directly store complete payment-card information. Payment information may instead be handled by the relevant payment provider under its own security and privacy practices.
17. Legal disclosures
CAMSERMAR may disclose personal information where required or permitted by applicable law. This may include responding to lawful government requests, court orders, regulatory requirements or investigations. Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, unauthorised access or activities that may threaten CAMSERMAR or its users.
18. Security
CAMSERMAR takes reasonable technical, organisational and administrative measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure, loss, destruction, alteration, misuse and other unlawful processing. However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Users are also responsible for protecting their account credentials and should contact CAMSERMAR if they believe their account has been compromised.
19. Retention
CAMSERMAR retains personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Retention may depend on the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected, whether your account remains active, legal obligations, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security requirements and legitimate record-keeping requirements. When information is no longer required, it may be deleted, anonymised or securely disposed of in accordance with applicable requirements.
20. Account deletion
You may request deletion of your CAMSERMAR account and associated personal data, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements. Certain information may need to be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain security, enforce agreements or satisfy legitimate record-keeping requirements.
21. Your rights
Subject to applicable law and any lawful limitations, you may have rights concerning your personal data. These may include the right to request access to personal data held about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion where legally applicable, object to certain processing, request restriction of processing where applicable, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent and exercise other rights provided by applicable data-protection law.
22. How to exercise your rights
To exercise your privacy rights or make a privacy-related request, contact CAMSERMAR at camsermar@gmail.com. Your request should, where possible, include your name, the telephone number or email associated with your CAMSERMAR account, the nature of your request and any information necessary to identify the relevant account or data. CAMSERMAR may request reasonable information to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
23. Children
CAMSERMAR is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children in violation of applicable law. Where applicable law requires parental or legal-representative involvement or consent for processing a minor's personal data, CAMSERMAR will apply the requirements prescribed by law. If you believe that a minor has provided personal information to CAMSERMAR in circumstances where this should not have occurred, please contact us at camsermar@gmail.com.
24. Sensitive personal data
Certain categories of personal data may receive additional protection under applicable law. Users should therefore avoid unnecessarily submitting sensitive information through CAMSERMAR. This may include information concerning health, biometric information, financial information, criminal or judicial matters or other categories protected by applicable law. Where CAMSERMAR processes sensitive information, it will do so only where there is a lawful reason and appropriate safeguards.
25. Professional credentials
Service providers may voluntarily provide information about their qualifications, licences, certificates, professional experience, business registration, identity, training or other professional credentials. Where CAMSERMAR provides verification features, verification does not necessarily mean that CAMSERMAR guarantees the quality, competence, legality or performance of a service provider. Users should independently assess whether a service provider is suitable for their particular needs.
26. Ratings, reviews and user content
Users may submit ratings, reviews, photographs, descriptions, portfolio materials, comments and other content. Information submitted publicly may be visible to other users. Users should not submit personal information belonging to another person without an appropriate legal basis or permission. CAMSERMAR may remove or restrict content that violates its Terms and Conditions, applicable law or platform rules.
27. Cookies and similar technologies
CAMSERMAR may use cookies, software development kits, analytics tools, device identifiers or similar technologies on its website or application. These technologies may be used to maintain functionality, remember preferences, understand application usage, diagnose technical problems, improve performance, measure engagement, detect suspicious activity and improve security. Where applicable law requires consent for particular technologies, CAMSERMAR will provide appropriate information and obtain the required consent.
28. Communications from CAMSERMAR
CAMSERMAR may send service-related communications such as account verification messages, security alerts, service-request notifications, important platform announcements and customer-support communications. Where permitted by law, CAMSERMAR may also send promotional communications. Users may be given options to stop receiving non-essential promotional communications. Essential account, security and service messages may still be sent where necessary.
29. Third-party services
CAMSERMAR may integrate with or link to third-party services, including payment services, communication platforms, mapping or location services, analytics services, authentication services, app stores, hosting providers and other technology services. These third parties may have their own privacy policies and terms. CAMSERMAR does not control the privacy practices of independent third-party services.
30. International transfers
Some technology or service providers used by CAMSERMAR may process or store personal information outside Cameroon. Where personal data is transferred outside Cameroon, CAMSERMAR will take appropriate steps required by applicable law concerning such transfers, including appropriate safeguards or other legally recognised mechanisms where applicable.
31. Personal-data breaches
If CAMSERMAR becomes aware of a personal-data breach, it will assess the incident and take appropriate measures required by applicable law. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the incident, this may include investigating and containing the breach, securing affected systems, restoring services, documenting the incident and notifying relevant authorities or affected individuals where legally required or appropriate.
32. Fraud and security monitoring
CAMSERMAR may process personal information to identify and investigate fraudulent accounts, impersonation, scams, misleading information, abusive behaviour, unauthorised access, spam, security threats and other violations of the CAMSERMAR Terms and Conditions. This may include analysing account activity, reports and technical information where reasonably necessary for safety and security purposes.
33. Automated systems
CAMSERMAR may use automated systems or algorithms to help organise service providers, improve search results, recommend relevant services, identify potentially suspicious activity, personalise parts of the user experience and improve platform performance. Automated recommendations should not be interpreted as guarantees of a service provider's quality, reliability, competence or suitability.
34. Information about other people
If you provide personal information belonging to another person, you should ensure that you have an appropriate legal basis or permission to provide that information. Users should not upload another person's photograph, telephone number, identification information, private documents or other personal information without appropriate authority.
35. Accuracy of information
Users are responsible for ensuring that the personal information they provide to CAMSERMAR is accurate and reasonably up to date. You may request correction of inaccurate information through available account features or by contacting camsermar@gmail.com.
36. Account security responsibilities
Users should keep their login information confidential, avoid sharing authentication codes, use reasonable security precautions, log out of accounts on shared devices and report suspected unauthorised access. CAMSERMAR will not normally ask users to disclose their password or confidential authentication code through an unsolicited communication.
37. Disclosure for legal compliance
CAMSERMAR may disclose personal data where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful government requests, comply with court orders, protect the rights or property of CAMSERMAR, investigate suspected unlawful activity, protect users or the public or enforce its Terms and Conditions.
38. Changes to this Privacy Policy
CAMSERMAR may update this Privacy Policy from time to time because of changes to the application, introduction of new services, changes in technology, changes in legal requirements, changes in data-processing practices or security and operational considerations. When appropriate, CAMSERMAR will notify users of significant changes. The updated policy will display a new "Last Updated" date.
39. Relationship with the Terms
This Privacy Policy should be read together with the CAMSERMAR Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions govern your use of CAMSERMAR, while this Privacy Policy explains how CAMSERMAR collects, uses, stores, protects and shares personal data.
40. Applicable law

42. Acknowledgement
By creating an account or using CAMSERMAR, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to read and understand this Privacy Policy and how CAMSERMAR may process personal data in connection with its services. Where applicable law requires specific consent, CAMSERMAR will request that consent separately.
